POL 333 Politics W. Europe As indicated in class, the final will have two sections: Part I will be a set of short-answer questions (largely identification and/or description) intended to be answered in a word, a phrase, or at most a sentence. Part II will be a set of essay-type questions designed to be answered in one or two paragraphs. Please keep in mind that for both sections of the examination, your emphasis should be on providing politically relevant descriptions and explanations. How do experiences, developments, ideas, concerns, leaders, and institutions affect the making and administration of political decisions? Test your familiarity with these elements of European politics. Some items to review for both sections of the examination : Politics Political culture Political structures Major characteristics of the physical setting of Europe Major economic characteristics of Europe Major cultural and social characteristics of Europe The politics of collective identity from Kesselman-Krieger text (intro) Key steps in the economic and political integration of Europe Winston Churchill- prime minister in Great Britain during WWII. Jean Monnet- architect of the European Coal and Steel Community, worked towards European unity. Robert Schuman- also put together and set forth achieving the goals of the European C and S Community. Jacques Delors- french socialist economist, served as president of the EU Commission. European Coal and Steel Community
