Brian Lau English 200 D Andrew McNair 5/21/07 Reading Response #16 You say that when you first read Ernest Hemingway, you thought his works, as a writer was boring or something. Then you read something by Hemingway that made you want to become a literature major. Well, I thought “The Snows of Kilimanjaro” was somewhat pointless and does not really serve a purpose. I must admit that when I first started reading, the little intro paragraph that gives info about Kilimanjaro being a snow covered mountain as the “House of God” and the frozen leopard as a mystery, had potential. It seemed interesting at first, but then it boils down to a man who has a leg infection that is killing him and he reflects on his life. Although, I did hear from a friend that he thought Ernest Hemingway’s “For Whom the Bell Tolls” was good. So maybe some other time I will get to enjoy some of his other works. Anyways, several philosophical issues were mentioned in this book. There is the issue of
