Financial Times France and Italy to send military advisers Thursday, April 21, 2011 Journal 2 France and Italy have agreed to match the British advisors in Libya by sending military advisors of their own. They are doing this as an expansion of NATO’s commitment to Libya. France has said however, that they have ruled out the idea of sending ground forces. There is some resistance to this announcement from humanitarian organizations that are a little worried about mixing military and humanitarian aid. Unformatted text preview: conflict, is having a fairly poor showing. It seems that all the work being done to combat the problem in Libya is being done by the member states solely. It is interesting that the EU is not pushing more for a combined effort where the EU is in charge, but what we are seeing is the member states stepping up to the plate and although they are working together they are not headed under EU leadership. This may show that the EU is not quite ready for a Common Defense Force that is really capable of doing anything substantial....
