Financial Times Populist Finns’ rise threatens to derail bail-outs April 19, 2011 Journal An anti-euro and very populist party has demanded major changes in the EU bail-out proposals after that party made major gains in the last election. This party has made strong gains and when put in a coalition with the center left Social Democratic party makes a very anti-euro government with views of extreme criticism of the EU bail-outs. The only thing that eases the tensions for the EU when it comes to Finland is the fact that the center right National Coalition party won the most votes which puts them in line for the Prime Minister position, and this party

Unformatted text preview: is pro-euro and bail-out. This article shows a couple of interesting issues facing the EU, especially when it comes to economic matters. The first is that the citizens of multiple countries in the EU are getting tired of funding bail-outs for other countries they see are fiscally irresponsible. This can be seen clearly as a problem, if the people of the member states are not happy then they will elect governments that will be hostile to EU legislation. Secondly, this shows the interesting case of a head of government being pro EU and the legislative body being anti EU and it will be very interesting to see how it plays out....
