A recent early retiree from the investment banking industry, Rachel has decided to go into the food business. A self-trained, gourmet chef in her spare time, Rachel makes her own pesto, which her friends have told her for years that she should make and sell. Now that she has left the banking industry, she has decided to take some of her retirement money, and start Ciao Baby Pesto, a company dedicated to making fresh and unique homemade pestos. • Rachel’s signature pesto is made from basil and garlic predominantly. Other needed ingredients are parmesan cheese, olive oil, and pine nuts, salt and pepper. Rachel has an extensive garden and will grow the basil and garlic that she will need for her initial supply. She has decided she will buy her other from a warehouse club, like Costco or Sam’s. She is packaging her product in canning jars with hand-printed labels, which she is making herself....
