Case background and assignment Samuel Kaplan must negotiate with Thyestean to get what he wants out of the proposed sale of a 30% ownership stake in Sky Air, Inc. Kaplan must enter the negotiations armed with realistic expectations and a list of bargaining points he can offer to improve Thyestean’s valuation of its share of the company. Assume your group has been hired by Kaplan to help him prepare for negotiations with Thyestean. Specifically, Kaplan wants answers to each of the questions below. Your goal is to help Kaplan understand: why his and Thyestean’s valuations of the 30% stake in Sky Air differ; what steps, if any, he could take to reduce the valuation difference; and, whether you believe the valuation difference can be entirely resolved, and why or why not. Also assume that Kaplan knows the terminology we use in class, so use it in your answers without defining it. Questions 1) Currently, who are the principals and agents at Sky Air? In particular, is Kaplan currently a principal, an agent, or both? 2) If Thyestean purchases a 30% share of Sky Air, who will be the primary principals and agents? In particular, will Kaplan be a principal, an agent, or both? 3)
