Full-form of “SONAR SONAR-Sound Navigation And Ranging Types of “SONAR There are two types of SONAR:- <1> ACTIVE SONAR <2> PASSIVE SONAR

Working process of “SONAR <1>ACTIVE SONAR:- Active sonar involves both the transmission and receiving of sound waves . An active sonar system sends a sound pulse and measures the length of time for the sound to reflected back . Because the speed at which the sounds moves is very fast and remains constant , the distance to the object can be calculated quickly.

Ships and submarines use passive sonar to locate ships and subs and other threats. Advantage of SONAR SONAR-is used to find and identify objects in water. It is also used to determine water depth. SONAR is applied to water bases activities because sound waves attenuate less in water as they travel than do radar and light waves. Disadvantage of SONAR Surprisingly there are some disadvantage to this technology. SONAR waves can interfere with whale and dolphin echolocation. Many marine species ,such as whales depends on sound to find their food ,to communicate with their mates and young and to navigate in the oceans. Imagine a sound so loud traveling such long distances that it can kill or damage sensitive ears. Thank You...
