The British rule brought in gentlemen sports, ballroom dancing, and other aristocratic activities which attracted the local community. Genre: comedy Narrative and Tone: Playful Character(s): Achebe, Margaret, Matthew, JM Stuart Young, Mami Wota Plot and Setting: It takes place in Nigeria next to the River Niger. The story is about Jolly Ben, a nigerian man who is weary of woman, and how he overcomes the urge of the Mami Wota. Motifs and Symbolism: Mami Wota - If they are seduced by her, they will have all the wealth in the world but they will be single all their life, meaning they won’t have happiness.
