(connect to text) Hemingway is on his second honeymoon in France and she was a catholic; since Spain was a devout catholic country, he set the story there. He also introduces his main idea “abortion” because he though of this story once he met a woman who he had noticed got an abortion. The society at this time was not accustomed to abortions because it was a sin, a dare. The 1920’s were a roaring decade when lots of progression happened in France.
