Chapter 8: Excel Tutorial (Log-Regression Analysis) After completing the tutorial, you will be able to use formulas and add-ins associated with log- regression in Excel. This tutorial will use the Log function in conjunction with the Data Analysis add-in. We will walk through the process within Excel to solve the Self Study problem 4 found at the end of chapter 8. Regression Analysis – the following steps can be used to setup a log-regression analysis. 1. Enter the data points shown in Self Study problem 4 as seen below, or open the spreadsheet labeled “Template”: 2. Now we will transform the data using the LOG function. In cell C2 type in =LOG(A2), and then hit enter. Excel automatically includes the normal base of 10 into the function. You can now drag this function into the other cells as seen below: a. To drag the function, select the cell and right-click on the bottom right hand corner of the cell ( ). Once you have dragged the cell down to C9 let go of the right button on the mouse. b.
