Andrew Trice Preparation Outline Format: Call to Action Speech Specific Purpose Statement: To get people to conserve water, in order to save our water supply. Introduction I. Attention: According to the USA Today , Georgia’s environmental director estimated on the first of November that the northern third of the state will run out of water in roughly 80 days; forcing Georgia to import supplementary water from other places (2007). For the past couple of months the southeastern part of the United States has been experiencing a severe drought, one which has broken many drought records from previous years. In order not to be forced into importing water, we must take drastic measures to insure our water supply. II. Background: When was the last time any of you remember your home running out of water? The problem lies in the fact that this is becoming more and more a reality every day that goes by without rain. III. Subjective Sentence: It is important to make college students aware of the different opportunities available to conserve water in order to prevent yet another severe drought.
