Michelle Riesenfeld Section 304 Thursday February 9 Reaction Paper #3 The article, “Why Bother,” discusses the mindset of many individuals of today’s society, who contemplate “bothering,” and taking progressive steps towards making a change in the world that is becoming increasingly necessary, even if hundreds of other people are not willing to do the same. It is almost as if “why bother,” is another way of saying, “what’s the point?” For those who think that the changes that the world is undergoing are inevitable and unfixable, they are assuming that it is too late to start bothering now. However, if people are able to get past that point of doubting that their individual effort will make some kind of difference at all, and able to believe in the need to make changes, no matter how small, then there will be a chance at preserving what is left of the natural world.
