Modern Challenges in Immigration Checkpoint When thinking of today’s modern challenges in immigration and trying to consider the nation’s vantage point on it all is a quite a challenge itself but, in my eyes immigration is a “darned if you do, darned if you don’t” topic. If you are against immigration, then you are not only considered cruel for wanting to turn away political and religious refugees and children from third-world countries, but you are also against a major contributor to the economic welfare of the United States. If you support immigration, then you are considered anti-American and to be a person who wants to turn America into a country where Spanish is the first language. However, it is difficult for some immigrants to conform and assimilate to the American way of doing things. In my own opinion, yes I think that the U.S. government should favor certain kinds of immigration; meaning those that want to come into this country to better them-selves as well as being a contributing citizen to the United States. On the other hand, it is hard to accept that
