PT 1. What kinds of habits that hinder thinking must we guard against when using with these types of online media? There are many different aspects to look at when using online media. I believe that one of the first and most important things that hinder our thinking is the use of abbreviated words or better known as "short hand" typing. Using “short hand” typing when chatting to friends and family in social media or in a text message is okay, but the use of this type of writing on a daily basis tends to become a habit that evolves into a natural writing style in ones communication. When people get into the habit of using words such as "gr8" meaning "great" and "lol" meaning “laugh out loud” daily, it may be difficult to break that habit and can also harm a persons ability to use correct spelling when necessary. Another issue that may hinder our thinking with online media and need to guarded against is the thinking that majority of the information provided on the internet is deemed to be true; it’s not.
