Even though each and every step is important, however if a decision had to be made quickly I think that the steps that could be eliminated would be 5, 6 and 7 (Gather and organize facts, Evaluate possible alternatives, and Choose and implement the best alternative). I think that since step 3 includes collecting the facts and redefining the problem, step 5 could be eliminated because you have already collected the facts in order to resolve the problem and in this type of situation you will not have time to organize the facts. When eliminating step 6 you are limiting yourself to making the best choice and most beneficial decision, but by following through with step 3 and identifying your possible alternatives this provides you some alternatives to choose from when having to make such sudden decision.
