In fact, there may be a greater need for employees than there are actual employees in the field. 2.As a career in tourism, what position appeals to you at the present?The position that seems the most interesting to me would be in the tourism research field. 3.What preparation will be needed for that position?In order to be successful in this field, I would have to know how to do research using both primary and secondary sources. I would also have to be organized in order to not only manage my own research, but in the future, manage the research of others, as well. I’ll also have to learn to write and manage grants and grant money for the research. 4.What are its probably awards?Likely, the awards of this career would be interesting research that would allow for new advancements to be made in the field. In fact, there is an award just for research in the field of tourism research would obviously be one of the best awards. 5.Identify the position’s advancement opportunities?In this position, I would be able to advance from a research assistant to managing my own research. Then, eventually, I would be able to manage a whole organization or department ofresearch and be able to think more about the big picture of things. 1

I know, however, that to advance in the field I would have to continue to work on them. 7.What criteria would you use to choose a company to interview for?When looking for a place to interview I would make sure that the company had a path for advancement, good starting pay, and interests and principles similar to mine. 8.How important is salary in your job choice?While it is not the most important thing, it is still important to me. Unfortunately, money is needed to survive so the pay does have to be taken into consideration. 9.Evaluate the job satisfaction in your chosen careerSince there is obvious room for advancement in this career, I know that that would be great for job satisfaction. Not only that, but it is a ever-changing field meaning it will always provide new and interesting challenges to keep me motivated. Lastly, the pay is not going to be great, but it will be no less than many other fields that have interested me in the past. Overall, I believe the job satisfaction would be very high in this career. 10. What will tourism be like in 2020? 2030? What position might you visualize yourself to be by that date?
