1. Explain what is meant by Professor Miller's "the cruelest corruption of Darwin's theories" in the Carrie  Buck story. In the story, the forced sterilization was to prevent the survival of future unfit and to protect society of the  consequences of those who are mentally or physically handicapped. The Darwin theory of survival of the  fittest was used as a basis of the unproven, yet taken into consideration, reasoning behind the sterilization  of Buck and others. There were no efforts made to provide a reasonable test of intelligence and the order  was not limited to Carrie, but also her sister, and her daughter. These people were judged by issues with  Carrie's mother and through a rape that was not Carrie's fault. The court used the idea of Darwin's  survival theory in the most unfair and lack of evidentiary material way. 2. Identify "all" the stakeholders in the Burlington Railroad scenario. The stakeholders include the employees and management of the Burlington Railroad, the families of  those, shareholders in the company, medical community and scientists in the field, the population of the  country and possibly the world, since the global landscape is changing to include possible issues of  employment from other countries. In other words, every person and every future human everywhere were  all stakeholders. 3. Describe the ethical issues involved in the Burlington Railroad scenario. First is the hidden testing, people did not know they were being tested for specific conditions by looking  for the genetic markers. Also, testing results were used as a possible reason for non employment based  on the possibility of contracting the condition. Ethically, everyone is a possible of some condition, and to
