DESIGN PRINCIPLES: SPECIFICS Page Numbers Transmittal document is NOT numbered (use “start on page…”) l Front matter z (Title page, Table of Contents, Summary, Acknowledgements, etc.) are numbered using lowercase Roman numerals (i, ii, iii, iv…). Title pages are NOT numbered but count. E.g., if the Table of Contents immediately follows the Title Page, it will be l ii z . Body text is numbered 1, 2, 3, etc., beginning with the Introduction. See instructions for Word 2007 under “Report Resources” on home page. Margins, Line Spacing and Justification Minimum 1 z (2.5cm) margins Keep line spacing the same throughout your work. l Full z justification tends to be viewed as more formal and professional, but not as reader friendly. Line length and Columns Long lines of text wear on your reader and can be difficult to follow, especially with l full z justification. Consider using columns , especially if your work is text-heavy.
