Part A: Data set A1 summarises F2 family members from a cross between two, true-breeding Drosophila (P generation), which differ with respect to two strains. The gene alleles can be dominant or recessive, and autosomal or X-linked. Hypothesis: My hypothesis is that the gene for purple eyes is X-linked recessive, while the gene for curly wings is autosomal recessive. Let X + represent the wild type X-chromosome that carries the allele for wild type eyes. Let X represent the mutated X-chromosome that carried the allele for purple eyes. Let W represent wild type wings which are dominant over w which represents curly wings. P: ww X + X + crosses with WW XY Homozygous recessive curly wings, wild type eyes, female x Homozygous dominant wild type wings, purple eyes, male X + X + Ratios: There is a ratio of 1 that the female offspring will have wild type eyes. There is a ratio of 1 that the male offspring will have wild type eyes.
