PHASE V INDIVIDUAL PROJECT people in the media today. Similar to myself Oprah came from a lot being subjected it things no child her age should. She wasn’t born with a silver spoon in her mouth like some of the other women and men that share the same profession. She comes from a small town in a southern state called Mississippi. Growing up with absent parents being basically raised by her grandmother and on top of that being sexually abused had to be extremely damaging on her as a child. The reason why I chose Oprah Winfrey is because her story is encouragement to me. She inspires me to strive for more and give me motivation to further educate myself as an African American woman. Reading her autobiography has really opened my mind in terms of how a person can go through a lot of negative situation in life and still come out on top of everything. Digging into Oprah’s psyche has helped me in understanding that how you were raised and were where you were born doesn’t have to affect your whole life and that there is something beyond that. It has also been really insightful to learn maybe why she was so gifted and worked as hard as she did. Her parents had to gravely affect her psychology in her development as a person. Furthermore Oprah’s accomplishment interested me because she gives me hope that one day I will be able to accomplish my goals and dreams. Oprah’s has helped about 65,000 children go to school and that to me is just astounding. The fact that one person can do some much just baffles me. One of my personal goals was to further my love for the theatrical arts. From a very young age I have always wanted to do something in theater currently I’m actually doing really well at it. With my education I seem to be expanding as well. Coming out of high school I had all the intention of going into the military and making career of it. Things happened and I in soon

Oprah Winfrey has become one of the most successful African American Women of our time. She stands in a league of her own when it comes to everything she has done and accomplished in her life. Although the level of success she achieved wasn’t just handed to Ms. Oprah she had to work very hard from a very young age to be molded into the women she
