Each wire carries one binary valued signal. address bus (output w.r.t. CPU): Na physical lines give the capacity to address 2 Na "word" location in main memory. eg. 32 bits address 4 billions memory locations. data bus : Nd physical lines gives the ability to transmit Nd bits of data (word size) simultaneously. control bus : control the data and address bus traffic between CPU, memory, I/O Main Memory ‐‐ where the program codes and data are located I/O: CPU communicates with external I/O devices by address decoders and digital input and output ports. CPU (Central Processing Unit): Perform computation
