For our world, there are several, but serious threats which the Greenpeace organization is dealing with. First of all, we can show the fact of global warming as a serious danger. The statistics of the effects of global warming around the world are frightening.As James Meek, Science reporter of The Guardian points out, there has been a 40% decrease in the average summer ice thickness in the Arctic sea since the 1970’s. He goes on to say that if it continues to decrease at this rate there will be no ice left in 50 years (2000). In addition to global warming, we can see that decrease of forests as an effective factor for global warming. As trees help to filter the air and regulate the climate, the loss of so many trees gives environmentalists serious cause for concern. In fact, on their website, Greenpeace claim that an area of ancient forest as big as a football pitch is destroyed every 2 seconds. (n.d.) Another significant topic that Greenpeace is dealing with is the contamination of the oceans, air and soil. In their website (n.d.), they present nuclear power as a threat to the
