Most are fixed tilt, some are one- or two-axis tracking. For flat-plate collectors, the additional energy collected through tracking may not justify the hardware and maintenance cost, and energy used. Concentrating collectors use only the normal radiation, but flat-plate collectors use both normal and diffused radiation.
