Biology 106 is a general biology course for non-majors. It fulfills the need for a lab science in those programs which require one. The course is comprised of 4 units. Each unit has homework assignments, online lab activity assignments, and a unit exam. There are several sessions for each unit. All the sessions for a unit open on the same day and remain open until the day of that unit’s exam. I recommend working through the sessions in order as they are organized to guide you through the material. Your final grade is based on the total number of points you earn throughout the semester. The weighting of points is designed to take the pressure off of wrote examinations. The first session of each unit will contain the notes in both document form and powerpoint including weblinks and animations/videos. Many concepts in this course require visualization along with explanations. I strongly urge you to go to the websites found in the weblink document for each unit. The assignments, homeworks and labs, are listed for each session and should be completed in order. The sessions should be completed in order as the concepts build on one another as you continue through the semester. Utilize email and the forums to ask questions about any of the concepts and assignments covered throughout the semester. There are several powerpoints to help with the more difficult concepts. Your online labs and text book site are a wealth of information too!! There’s also my website … http://faculty.ccp.edu/faculty/djanich/CCP_Bio106_Home.html My syllabus covers all the same material as the departmental syllabus just in a slightly different order. An overview of the four units can be found in the Welcome powerpoint.
