Tips for Reading 1. Read the questions first. 2. Scan the material for the information necessary to answer the question. Usually (but not always) the questions will follow the order of the selection. 3. Carefully read the sentences containing the information needed to answer the questions, paying special attention to words like “no”/”nunca” that will change the meaning of the sentences. 4. Use your knowledge of cognates and word endings to help you understand words you do not know. For instance, the letters “-dad” occurring at the end of a word translate to the English “-ty” (humanidad = humanity, universidad = university) and will, therefore, be nouns. Tips for Listening 1. Read the questions first. 2. Using the multiple choice answers, think of words in Spanish that you would expect to hear. You may even want to write them down on the paper. 3. On the first listen, even if you cannot identify the correct answer, you may be able to cross out a few of the wrong ones. Use process of elimination. Tips for Writing 1. Be prepared! Though you will not know the exact prompt, you have a general idea of the format based on our previous compositions. Use your study time to think up words and phrases you might need to talk about student life, your daily routine, recent trips, last
