Modern Challenges in Immigration Checkpoint Pamela Turner ETH/125 March 31, 2011 Mr. Knight In my opinion the immigration process is very difficult, the prices are high, and the forms are confusing. I was born, raised and educated in the United States and after reading the sample questions for the citizenship test I am concerned that if the test were given to me today I would not pass. Despite the difficulties, I believe that most immigrants would still come to the United States if given the chance. After all this is still the land of opportunity. The United States policies should not favor certain kinds of immigrants, there should be no preference given for citizenship, and applications for citizenship from certain countries should not be given priority. The answer is no to all of these questions because if we were to answer yes to any of them, we would basically be racist about racism. What I mean by that is that if we were to give preference to a German immigrant
