Shafaat Rahman 2/6/12 “Mourning Dove’s Owlwoman and Coyote” Reading Response #3 – The Owlwoman In the assigned reading, in this instance the trickster is at first believed to be another villain accompanying the Owlwoman. From the beginning, the Owlwoman is described as an evil figure that travels from one area to other harvesting little children in order to subdue her hunger. In this specific instance, the Owlwoman comes across this little girl named Chipmunk who she wishes to devour. All in all, through various circumstances she ends up getting her way and eating the child’s heart. But, as she continues her journey, she comes across this Coyote who she already knows is a very cunning animal. After manipulating her, the Coyote poses as a beneficial aid in her journey, in turn ends up being asked to join her in her journey. As the two journey together, the Owlwoman becomes hungry and wishes to eat a child. The Coyote arouses ideas such as roasting the children as they would taste better. Following that, the Coyote
