Brief presentations of some of some of the main ethical views on ethics from ancient times to the present. These summaries will provide a context to the ethical professional decisions we take in our daily lives. Comprehensive study of, and application of fundamental ethical values to business and professional actions; discussion of selected economic and business policy issues from an ethical perspective; review of the "ethical" foundations of both contemporary capitalism and socialism. REQUIREMENTS The class will consist of both faculty lectures and oral presentations by students. In addition to the books assigned, materials will be distributed and read by the student. Students will prepare a three page typed paper on the topic assigned for specific classes ( five papers total). Students must retain a copy of paper for class presentation. Each student will do two oral presentations in class using one of the papers prepared. In thirteen (of the fifteen) classes there will be five student presentations. The student can start with the materials distributed or the books assigned and will be expected to expand on these materials in the three-page paper. Where there are multiple issues on a topic student must choose one of the issues for the class presentation and paper. Do not attack too many issues in such a short paper. - First 3- page paper due September 7 on Ethical Issues in the Movie Industry: Money v. Responsibility TEXT : th edition 2004. Plus summaries of the main ethical views from ancient times to the present will be presented in lieu of a textbook. ATTENDANCE –more than 2 unexcused cuts = 1 letter grade reduction for the course FOR THE GRADE : Five 3-page typed papers 40% Two 40% Two 20% Class Attendance –more than 2 unexcused cuts = 1 letter grade reduction IN THE FIRST CLASS there will be an oral presentation using only the materials handed out. The first typed paper for the individual grade- (for which additional materials should be used) will be submitted September 7, 2004 . There will be a period to read handouts and a system of
