Graduating is important and many people will be proud of me, but the tuition is expensive and you may have to take out student loans. This year the job market is not promising graduates with many jobs, by estimates it is five candidates for every opening. Without having a job after I graduate, it could leave me to fall behind on my student loans. There are consequences to not paying your student loans, the government could even garnish your wages or take some or all of your income tax. If we do not get a job right after we graduate, there is a grace period in which we have three months after we graduate before we have to start repaying our loan. If you still can’t find a job there is a program in which you can see if you qualify for a repayment program based on your income. The website where you can apply for this is www.nslds.ed.gov . If you are still having economic hardship, you can consider having your payments deferred for up to three years. Sandra Block
