Dr. Holland has a system that organizes career fields into six categories. The six categories are listed as follows; realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising, and conventional. I believe that the investigative category describes my personal characteristics best. I would describe myself as an analytical, rational, and logical problem solver. One of the career fields that matched these characteristics is a computer programmer. The major that I am studying in college is to be a computer programmer. Dr. Holland’s model will help us analyze the reasons for our career decisions, but we should never just base our decision on this.
