There are five steps in the writing process of an essay. These steps are as follows: prewriting, outlining the structure of ideas, writing a rough draft, revising, and editing. The prewriting phase of essay writing has four of its own steps. The four steps of the prewriting phase are to use experience and observations, reading, free-writing, and asking questions.
