Communications 101 Dr. Dow Essay # 3, “Reflection” Why this topic? For this third essay, let’s build on both the topic and the writing skills you’ve developed in the first two essays. Your theme song essay captured the essence of who you are right now, and your photo focus essay gave you an opportunity to explore an important event or relationship in your life. Let’s continue that self-reflection and expand our discussion to include your strengths and challenges. If pressed, what would you say are your strengths? What things are you really good at doing? Also, let’s be honest; we all have challenges, many of which we need to work at daily to overcome. What are some of those issues? In terms of the writing, like the first two essays, this reflection essay needs to be focused on a dominant impression (or main idea, thesis, etc.), be organized, be well supported with concrete and specific details and examples, and finally, be interesting to read and experience. Okay, so now what?
