February 22, 2012 Yes It Is (1965 Single) -Written by John -Poe-like obsession with lost lover -Mysterious women often found in Dylan songs -Yearning for all powerful female figure *Help! Album (August 1965) (so Rock n’ Roll was still every new; small part of the music world) I’ve Just Seen a Face -Paul realizes he needs to write more to catch up with John -Preoccupation with Jane Asher -Folk-rock sound (more like their first music—skiffle) -Missing the bass -You can hear the “falling” of the vocals with the lyrics Act Naturally -Written for help but not included into the movie -The Beatles’ last recorded cover (until Let it Be ) -Placed on album instead of If You’ve Got Troubles - Features Ringo as a cinematic persona -Very upbeat and playful; more country-like It’s Only Love -Originally called That’s a Nice Hat -Written by John, though he did not take it seriously -Leslie speaker produces guitar’s swimming “chorus” effect (built to go with an old-time organ; plugged their guitars into it & then their mics—experimenting) -What makes it not up to par with other John songs? -Fits the general topic of his other songs: unhappily in love…
