Unformatted text preview: The Growth of Online Education by Raymond Milek The impact of online education has changed the way students all over the world are being educated. Online education is incessantly growing more popular as we head further into the age of technology. Schools that offer online education are constantly improving the quality of their online courses, while companies that design online classrooms are assisting these schools by continuously looking for ways to improve their products. The online classroom appears to be growing and evolving into what one day may be the primary source of schooling. Opinions about the quality and experience of online learning seem to differ from professionals in the education world, all over the globe. The first article I read, pertaining to online education, seems to support the fact that online education is an ever-evolving technology, and is only going to continue its evolution. One fact that this article pointed to was that there are over 70,000 school-age children , from kindergarten through 12 th grade, currently using online schooling. This number seemed staggering, since these children and teenagers most likely have only school to take up the majority of their day’s time. Another fact that indicates the evolution of online schooling is that Blackboard, an education software maker and early success in online schooling, recently purchased two companies that apply advanced synchronous learning technologies to online classes.
