Women in the United States get breast cancer more than any other type of cancer except for skin cancer. It is second only to lung cancer as a cause of cancer death in women. There are 7 different types of breast cancer. Breast cancer type is characterized by whether it begins in the ducts or the organs responsible for breast milk production. The size, stage, rate of growth, and other features of the malignant tumor determine the kinds of treatment. Risk factors for breast cancer include: Age : The risk of getting breast cancer increases with age. Half of all women diagnosed are over age 65. Weight : Being obese or overweight. Obesity is known to boost the risk of estrogen-fueled breast cancer in women who are past menopause. New studies have shown that the fat cells may set up
