As I am new in the organization, referent power may not be too effective because I am yet to build level of trust and respect among my fellow employees and subordinates. As I continue to work and earn respect, and get to know other managers from other departments this power will become more relevant. I also have the legitimate power that comes from the formal position as a brand manager in the organization, which I can effectively use to secure assistance and help from these employees. Further, as company procedures indicate that these employees must complete certain tasks requested by brand managers, coercive power can be used to ensure compliance and obedience with company guidelines in policies.
