The first week (week 2 of term) consisted of each group member tasting the PTC paper and analyzing the level of taste. Those with a strong taste phenotype were predicted to be a TT genotype. Those with a moderate taste phenotype were assumed to be heterozygous (Tt). Those with no taste were assumed to have a tt genotype. Three group members had genotypes that accurately lined up with the phenotypes, however, the fourth did not have the same phenotype as the genotype. The genotypes are the result of gel electrophoresis and analysis from the third week of the experiment (week 4). Those with a Tt genotype had three bands on the gel at 221 bp, 177 bp and 44 bp, which applied to three group members (Merritt et al., 2008). Those with a TT genotype had two bands on the gel at 177 bp and 44 bp, which applied to the final group member. BIO 124 Section 65 Lab Report 1 Group 1 The results for Table 2 were sent to each group to serve as a comparison the group data as well as to use for further calculations using the genotype frequencies. The lab section had its highest number of frequencies for the TT genotype, whereas the entire class had its highest number for the Tt genotype. Table 3: Observed Genotype Frequencies
