Write a summary equation for photosynthesis o CO 2 + H 2 O –energy from sun-> C 6 H 12 O 6 + O 2 Describe the structure of leaves and chloroplasts (listing all membranes and compartments) o Leaf: stoma, cuticle, upper epidermis, mesophyll cells, lower epidermis, chloroplasts, bundle sheath, and vascular bundle. o Chloroplasts: outer membrane, inner membrane, thylakoid, stroma, granum (stack of thylakoids), channel interconnecting thylakoids. Describe the two main stages of photosynthesis in general terms o In light-dependent reactions, thylakoids capture the sunlight energy and convert some of it into the chemical energy stored in energy-carrier molecules. In light-independent reactions, enzymes in the stroma use the chemical energy of the carrier molecules to drive the synthesis of glucose. 7.2 Light dependent reactions: how is light energy converted to chemical energy?
