Scott Fitzgerald, 1925 Major Characters: Nick Carraway, Jay Gatsby, Daisy Buchanan, Tom Buchanan, Jordan Baker, Myrtle Wilson, George Wilson, Owl Eyes, Klipspringer, Meyer Wolfsheim Location: The Great Gatsby takes place in Long Island and New York City in the mansion of Gatsby, Nicks home, various hotel rooms and West Egg. Major Scenes: Nick Carraway is introduced as the narrator of the story, he later meets with Daisy, Tom, and Jordan in the Buchanan home where he finds out that Tom is having an affair with another lady within the city (Chapter 1). Nick is invited to one of Gatsbys parties, and there he meets Gatsby for the first time and they become friends (Chapter 3). Nick and Gatsby go to New York to spend some time together and Gatsby talks about his life and his many accomplishments, and they meet Tom and the tension between Tom and Nick is felt instantly (Chapter 4). Gatsby and Daisy meet after many years and their love is instantly sparked after the first glance inside of Nicks small home (Chapter 5).
