Castrejon 1 Sammy Castrejon Period 1 English Honors 4-19-20 Athena Pallas Athena, also known as Minerva by the Romans, Athena is the daughter of Zeus alone. No mother bore Athena; Athena was born when she sprung out of her father’s head. Athena sprung out of Zeus’ head in full armor and armored with a spear (Hamilton, 30). Athena is widely known as the goddess of wisdom, but she has many other domains. For example, she is also known as the goddess of the arts, skill, war, and justice (Pontikis). Athena is the patroness protector of the city Athens, which was named after her. In earlier times Athena was considered to be a ruthless and fierce battle goddess but through time her image changed into being only fierce and warlike when her city was attacked. She also was the first to tame horses for the handy use of men (Hamilton, 30). Athena is sometimes given credit for the creation of many musical instruments, like the trumpet and the flute (Pontikis). Athena was considered to be Zeus’ favorite being born straight out of his head in Mt.
