Unformatted text preview: Samuel Castrejon AP Chemistry 3/3/12 Period 1 LeChat Lab Data/Observations 1. Equilibrium in a Saturated Solution Equation used: NaCl (s) --> Na + (aq) + Cl- (aq) Observations: After the tube was filled with solid NaCl and distilled water, a saturated solution formed. More solid NaCl was added to the tube to create a solution with enough solid for this experiment. HCl was then added to a saturated tube of the NaCl. A yellow precipitate was created. The equilibrium of the equation then moved to the direction of the reactants. 2. An Acid Base Indicator Equilibrium Equation used: HIn (aq) --> H + (aq) + In- (aq) Bromthymol solution was added to the test filled with distilled water at the half way point, and then the solution turned into dark blue almost as soon as the bromthymol solution was added 3. A Complex Ion Equilibrium Equation used : Fe 3+ (aq) + SCN- (aq) --> FeSCN 2+ (aq) A beaker was filled with 25 mL of distilled water and then both 25 ml of .0020M KSCN and 5 drops of 0.20M Fe(NO 3 ) 3 were added to the same beaker. The precipitate formed was a dark red color....
