Learning Outcomes At the end of the course students should be able to: 1. Analyze a communication problem a) identify the specific problem b) gather data and verify the existence of a problem. 2. Determine effective methods of audience analysis: a) define the characteristics of audience analysis b) define audience communication needs. 3. Analyze and compare commonly used business communication media: a) determine the most effective medium for the message and the audience. 4. Design a communication response, product or solution: a) use the appropriate style and mechanics of English-language business communication; b) apply generally accepted principles of planning, generating, composing, drafting, and revising messages; c) apply the generally accepted formats and uses of business documents and oral presentations; d) use presentation software and the Internet, and communicate using appropriate e-mail etiquette.
