After the Supreme Court ruling of Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, allowing corporations to more freely fund political campaigns, there has been an influx of money into the midterm elections. The majority, however, has gone to the Republicans. In the past week, Republican-leaning groups spent seven times more on television ads than did the Democratic ones. Examples of megadonors who are not funding democratic groups this year are George Soros, chairman of Progressive Insurance, and another billionaire Peter B. Lewis.
