Erika Blair February 5, 2012 BELS 311 LAB Title: Enzyme Activity Question: How do the factors of temperature and enzyme concentration affect the initial rate of reaction between H 2 O 2 and catalase? [For Background Information, Hypotheses, Experimental Design, Prediction, Materials, and Procedure, please see the carbon copy sheet attachments.] Data Summary: This experiment was broken into two groups of trials. Group A consisted of trials where the independent variable was the concentration of the enzyme used in the reaction. Three trials each were conducted with catalase concentrations of 100%, 75%, 50%, and 25%, to be compared to the control group trials that were all conducted at 100% catalase included in the reaction. Group B consisted of trials where the independent variable was the temperature at which the reaction occurred. All of the B trials used a 100% enzyme concentration, in order to be consistent with the control group.
