IMPORTANCE OF HEALTHY NUTRITION AND HYDRATION 2 Importance of Healthy Nutrition and Hydration Abstract Human bodies require enough food to generate energy to be used in different body functions like growth and many others. Healthy nutrition and hydration play a significant role in ensuring that the human body generates that required energy to be used by the body. Different statistical research methods were used to collect data in this particular research. These methods include questionnaires and several others. In this research paper, some of the importance of healthy nutrition and hydration are discussed in detail based on the research findings. Some of this importance includes the prevention of diseases, improvement of body organs functionality, boosting of the body immune system, strengthening of bones, bodyweight control, among many others. Introduction Nutrition is the process through which food and fluids are taken into a person's body to meet his/ her dietary and biological needs ( Whitney & Rolfes, 2018) . There is a condition of under-nutrition, which occurs when there is low consumption of calories or nutrients; hence, the body's energy requirements are not met. The state of under-nutrition leads to the loss of weight and other health-related problems. It is mainly caused by a number of factors like one choosing to eat less, poverty, depression, and medical conditions that affect the nutrient absorption by the body ( Geissler & Powers, 2017) . There is also a condition of over-nutrition, which occurs when excess food consumption is compared to body requirements. This condition can lead to obesity, diabetes, and other health complications. Lastly, we have malnutrition, which occurs when there is inappropriate intake 0f food and nutrients as far as maintenance of body functions is concerned

The common causes of malnutrition include medical conditions that lead to loss of appetite, weight loss, and changes that impact the swallowing process. Therefore, healthy nutrition is where a person's body gets all the required nutrients, vitamins, and minerals necessary for the body's well-functioning. Hydration, on the other hand, is the intake of fluids like water by the body for the health and functionality of the body ( Perrier, 2019) . Dehydration is now the opposite of hydration, where fluids in the body are removed. This can lead to constipation, infection of the urinary tract, problems with swallowing, and many other conditions that can be life-threatening. Now the main aim of this research paper is to find out the importance of healthy nutrition and hydration. The document will explain the benefits of having healthy nutrition and hydration, most especially to older people, infants, women, and girls in adolescents and perhaps those with medical complications.
