Some key general points for this lecture 1) Development of the genital system and kidney are very closely linked : this reflects their evolutionary history. 2) The kidney has a complex developmental and evolutionary history. 3) Quite a few terms (sorry): I’ll try to keep these to a minimum; also, opportunity in this lecture to review/revisit early LS2 embryology material. 4) The urogenital system shows very clearly how human anatomy is a mix of traits with obvious origins in our evolutionary history.
