HUM 111 DQ 3 In the last few years, the use of blogs, wikis, and other types of sharing websites—such as YouTube, Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter—have become increasingly popular as a means of expressing oneself and spreading news, opinions, or ideas. What kinds of perceptual blocks and habits that hinder thinking must people guard against when using these types of online media? Why is this important? One that comes to mind is Mine-Is-Better: I have seen this with so many teens on social media sites, they will brag about what they have and what others do not have. They will tell other teens that they are better than them, or their parents are better than theirs. Sometimes this gets very ugly between teens and I believe parents should monitor their children if they are going to allow them to have an account on any social media site. The teens need to overcome this perceptual block because it could destroy their image as they get older and could cost their relationship with most or some of their friends. Another is Stereotyping:
