Supporting A Position The Podcast stated that Florida was under a moratorium for executions due to a botched execution. Further research on the Florida execution of Angel Diaz, which took place on December 13, 2006, revealed that the inmate’s IV was improperly inserted into his arms. 1 The IV was placed into the muscles of the inmate instead of his veins. The average execution by lethal injection calls for use of two vials of lethal chemicals. In Mr. Diaz’s execution, fourteen vials were used. There has always been a huge debate on whether the death penalty was against the constitutional rights of the American people. Another major factor in this same debate has always been the religious beliefs of some people. The policy of using the death penalty as part of crime punishment, dates back to the year 1608.
