ASB 211/ DQ#4 9/72/11 A. I think African American feminists are right . Western women can be quick to criticize African nations for female genital cutting while failing to fight against the abuse of the female body in their own country . It is also hard to completely eliminate a problem such as FGC or the abuse of the female body . African American feminists thought are trying to say something , that before to take care of someone else you should fix your own problem first . B. FGC is often part of a community’s tradition . I believe if FGC is not the girl’s choice then anthropologist should work to eliminate this practice . This is because the practice is a violent act against a girl choice that causes her serious lifetime problems , which is a violation of human rights.

FGC supporters say that the Western practice of making breasts bigger and other plastic surgery is comparable to FGC . Most parents who support FGC believe they are protecting their daughters future marriage prospects , and not hurting her. It is seen by parents as part of a girls upbringing . C. I also believe that women should be properly educated before making a choice . This education should not just be about tradition but the health effects . If it is not the womens choice to have FGC done then anthropologist should be working in those areas to eliminate FGC practices ....
