To what extent do you think the gender movements of the 1960s encompassed more than the rights of women? Though the gender movement of the 1960’s focused primarily on the rights of women, they also impacted other segments of society. It is almost inevitable that when reform occurs in one segment of society it will spread to other areas as well. The fight for equality for women also affected rights based on race. This culminated in the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Young men complained that they were old enough to die in Vietnam for their country but not old enough to vote for the president who sent them to war.
